MF James

Maria is MF James an author/illustrator creating fiction and non-fiction for children using various styles to bring books to life.

She studied graphic design at university in Mexico City, a painting/photography course at Lorenzo de’ Medici Institute in Florence, and animation/Media Arts at the Art Institute of Philadelphia, with an internship at MTV in New York City.

MF spent fifteen years as a digital artist on award winning films like Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, James Bond and Batman using specialised software to create stunning special effects.

Starting a family, she now teaches art to children and adults at her studio, Start Studios. She is a volunteer worker in Oncology at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London engaging and entertaining young patients, which inspired her to create her own series of medical books.
